Climate Change Challenges for the 21st Century

What would it cost to kill coal??
In May 2024, the Economist tackled the costs of Global Warming. Since coal has been used for energy for an estimated 3,600 years, it can be viewed as the primary contributor to Global warming. The Economist, Nov 15, 2024 has tackled the difficult task of calculating the cost of eliminating coal entirely.
Geo-engineering is subject to conspiracy theories, but could it help save the planet?
Some geo-engineering ideas include reflecting sunlight back out to space to cool Earth. It sounds like the stuff of science fiction, but the idea of reflecting solar radiation is not as crazy as it might sound and sometimes happens in the natural world during volcanic eruptions. This July 20, 2024 BBC Article says that as the industry grows, so have conspiracy theories.
Why any estimate of the cost of climate change will be flawed
The Economist, May 30th 2024, shows how difficult it is to accurately predict the real costs of Global Warming, hence figure out what sacrifices are required to bring it under control. No one has tried to link changes with wars, earthquakes and solar flares, but they do also create havoc on earth.
Population and Climate Change: What Are the Links?
This article by Population Connection shows that in 2023, the global population surpassed 8 billion,  with 1 billion projected to be added by 2040. It also states there has been a reluctance to integrate discussions of population into climate education and advocacy. Yet climate change is tightly linked to population growth. In low- and middle-income countries alone, some 218 million women want to avoid pregnancy but are not using any form of modern contraceptives.
As seas rise, the relocation of Caribbean islanders has begun
This Economist, June 5th, 2024 article shows how people could be helped to relocate to achieve better living conditions. This type of adaptation could be much more affordable that trying to reduce the global warming impact on developing and vulnerable countries.
How do we know Climate Change is happening and caused by humans?
This BBC article of Oct. 25th, 2021 provides the scientific evidence to support global warming. Although there were several hot periods during Earth's past, a UN report released in 2021 said it "is unequivocal that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, oceans and land".
